Hiking the Ridge Trail

June 7, 2026

The ridge trail climbs steadily through beech woods for the first hour, then opens out onto grassland with views across three valleys.

We started early to avoid the heat and had the summit almost to ourselves. Skylarks rose singing from the grass, and a pair of buzzards circled lazily on the thermals below us.

Bring more water than you think you need, wear proper boots for the loose stones near the top, and leave time to sit for a while at the cairn. The view is the whole point.
